Blog 4 Home game against Feather River
Blog #4 – From Hope to Heartbreak: A Tough Home Loss
This week’s home game against Feather River started perfectly but ended in pure frustration. We went into the match confident, especially after a strong week of training with Butte. The weather was perfect, and we were ready to fight for three points. Early in the first half, we played some of our best football of the season — quick passes, smart runs, and high energy. Around the 25th minute, we scored to go up 1-0, and the feeling was unreal. Everyone believed this was going to be our game.
But football can change fast. In the second half, Feather River came out pressing higher and forcing us into mistakes. Around the 60th minute, they scored the equalizer after a messy rebound in the box. We stayed focused and kept pushing forward, but you could feel the momentum shift. Then, with about ten minutes left, they caught us on a counterattack and made it 1-2. That goal hit hard — we’d worked so hard all game, and suddenly it was gone.
When the final whistle blew, it felt heavy. Losing like that — especially after leading — hurts the most. But that’s part of football. We’ll learn from it and move forward. These kinds of games remind you that focus and energy have to last the full 90 minutes, not just the first half. Even though we lost, there were still positives — the teamwork, the effort, and the way we played early on showed what we’re capable of. Next time, we’ll finish stronger.
Losses like this also test your mentality. I read an article from about how athlete bounce back after a tough loss, and it really hit me. It’s not just about the score — it’s about resilience, staying motivated, and coming back better. That’s exactly what we’ll do.
